On September 8, we will be holding a choir concert at Bethel UMC in support of HomeBridge Ventures. HomeBridge is an amazing local organization that works with the recently incarcerated to make their journeys back into “outside” society a little easier. There are mountains to climb for those who leave the prison system – HomeBridge aims to assist these people with housing, employment, personal relationships and more. Please visit their website for details: https://www.homebridgeventures.org/ The title of the concert is “Relentless Joy” and the theme is just that – joy. The joy that is deep in your soul, that can’t be broken, that comes from above. It’s different from happiness – it’s a spark of hope, a glimmer of peace, a beacon in the darkness. The music will explore the gift of joy we have received, and its many uses and different meanings in Christian music. If you are interested in participating please contact me – I will send you a Google Drive folder that includes the music selections for the concert, the rehearsal schedule, and the program order with links to practice tracks. You do not need to be at every single rehearsal to participate – we ask that singers make time to attend at least 3 regular rehearsals over the summer (more is always better). The dress rehearsal is mandatory (but see me if there’s a real issue). All rehearsals and the concert will be held at Bethel UMC (141 Greenwood Ave. Bethel, CT).
